Life on the Frontier is a heleus assignments mission. It is acquired by acknowledging an email from Sidera Nyx after the first time Ryder visits the Kadara Slums on Kadara.

You've received an email from Sid, Vetra's sister, who thinks she has uncovered something suspicious going on at the Nexus.
Nexus interests have been attacked by the mercenary group called the Three Sabers. Vetra's sister Sid thinks there's something suspicious going on, as the Three Sabers seem to have detailed knowledge of Nexus plans and movements.
You've learned that the Three Sabers recently ousted their leader, Stanton Yale, after running into disagreements with him. Yale is now on Eos and may know more about the Three Sabers' activities.
Yale, the ousted leader of the Three Sabers, has revealed that the Nexus sanctioned the mercenary group's activities in the beginning. Addison herself had knowledge of it.

This mission can be started by the ghost mission Nexus by passing nearby Sidera Nyx. It is not required to read and acknowledge the email for this ghost mission to appear but the first objective Meet with Sid on the Nexus will not appear.
There are two copies of the datapad. Reading the one on the upper floor of the hideout satisfies the objective to search the hideout.
Ryder can choose to make Addison's involvement public or to keep it a secret. The rewards are the same in either case.
