Settling Elaaden is a heleus assignments mission on Elaaden. This mission has three main objectives that can be completed in any order and completing any of them causes this mission to appear in the Journal.
Description[ | ]
Several issues must be addressed before we can establish an outpost on Elaaden. One of the most pressing is to ensure that the krogan there do not see our activity as a threat. Being supportive of them might gain their trust.
We have reached an agreement with the krogan colony, which has agreed to work with any outpost we place.
Objectives[ | ]
- Resolve the tension at the krogan colony
- Clear the scavenger flophouse
- Reach 40% viability on Elaaden
- Create an outpost

It is not necessary to activate Elaaden's vault during Taming a Desert before establishing the outpost. Completing the objectives for Settling Elaaden will push viability beyond the 40% threshold required. However, activating the vault early on will make it easier to complete the various missions on the planet as the heat hazard levels will be removed by activating the vault.
The Resolve the tension at the krogan colony objective is a mission arc. Completing the following missions will complete this arc:
Conflict in the Colony → Parlay with the Krogan → Investigate Remnant Derelict → Search for the Stolen Remnant Drive Core
This mission can fail depending upon your final choice during Search for the Stolen Remnant Drive Core. You MUST choose to give Nakmor Morda the drive core. If this mission fails:
- Any mission requiring you to visit the newly created outpost will be unavailable (such as Architect on Elaaden).
- The research center on Elaaden will be unavailable for use.
- Any personnel associated with the new colony will not be available to interact with.
Unlike other outposts on other planets, the new outpost doesn't have a name. This outpost will be a combination of the Andromeda Initiative outpost and the krogan colony of New Tuchanka. (See: Elaaden Outpost).
