Task: Nomad Shield Crafting is an additional tasks mission. It is acquired by speaking with the Angaran Mechanic in the Angaran Resistance Base on Voeld.

You need to craft the Improved Shield Regenerator for the Nomad.

This mission no longer functions as intended. This mission was patched three times in Patch 1.06, Patch 1.07, and Patch 1.08. The mission with patches wasn't working right and in the end the game developers programmed a fix to cause the mission autocomplete.
There are several methods to get this mission to complete:
- Ryder can approach the Angaran Mechanic and acquire the mission. Ryder immediately returns to the Tempest.
- On the middle left side of the screen, there will be a display that the IMPROVED SHIELD REGENERATION blueprint has been acquired and +270 XP will be awarded.
- The statistics menu on the Nomad selection will show +50% SHIELD REGENERATION RATE.
- There will be an onscreen display in the top left corner with a check mark
stating that the mission has completed. - The mission will show up in the Completed missions folder.
- No resources are required to obtain the benefits of the blueprint.
- Ryder acquires level 11 and is awarded all of the Tier III blueprints (of which one is the Improved Shield Regeneration blueprint). Ryder immediately returns to the Tempest.
- On the middle left side of the screen, there will be a display that the IMPROVED SHIELD REGENERATION blueprint has been acquired and +270 XP will be awarded.
- The statistics menu on the Nomad selection will show +50% SHIELD REGENERATION RATE.
- The mission will show up in the Completed missions folder.
- There is no conspicuous onscreen display in the top left corner that this mission has completed.
- If Ryder returns to Voeld and speaks to the Angaran Mechanic, after the conversation there will be an onscreen display in the top left corner with a check mark stating that the mission has completed. On the middle left side of the screen, there will be a display that another copy of the IMPROVED SHIELD REGENERATION blueprint has been acquired. There will be no additional XP rewarded.
- No resources are required to obtain the benefits of the blueprint.
- Ryder can approach the Angaran Mechanic and acquire the mission. Ryder stays on Voeld and doesn't leave the planet.
- Ryder completes enough missions to raise the viability above 40% so that Settling Voeld can be completed.
- Taerve Uni can be founded and the only research centers on Voeld will appear.
- Ryder develops the blueprint using resources and there will be an onscreen display in the top left corner with a check mark
stating that the mission has completed. - On the middle left side of the screen, there will be a display that the +270 XP has been awarded.
- Ryder needs to enter the Nomad for the upgrade to be applied with an onscreen display.
- The statistics menu on the Nomad selection will show +50% SHIELD REGENERATION RATE.
- The mission will show up in the Completed missions folder.
Ryder isn't required to immediately return to the Tempest after acquiring the blueprint or mission. Ryder can explore on Voeld and complete any other missions. The programmed trigger to autocomplete the mission is returning to the Tempest at any time after the blueprint or mission is acquired. It takes a lot of careful work completing a large number of major missions only on Voeld without leaving the planet to actually get a research center to appear to develop the upgrade. While it is possible to develop the blueprint, it much easier and quicker to just return to the Tempest for the autocompletion without wasting resources.
Even after the mission is completed, there a several ways to acquire another copy of the blueprint. There is no benefit to acquiring and/or developing the blueprint again as the upgrade to the Nomad is only applied one time. These extra blueprints are unintended problems that were left in the game after the multiple patch attempts. The final autocomplete solution from the game developers doesn't cleanup all of the extra methods for acquiring a blueprint after the mission is completed.
- The Improved Shield Regeneration blueprint is available at the Vehicle Merchant on the Nexus for 1600 credits or from Thrasia on Kadara. DO NOT purchase this blueprint as it only wastes credits.
- Ryder reaches level 11 after completing the mission and another copy of the blueprint is automatically awarded as a Tier III blueprint.
- Ryder autocompletes the mission without speaking to the Angaran Mechanic. If Ryder speaks to the mechanic after autocompleting the mission, another copy of the blueprint will be awarded.
It isn't always apparent that the mission has automatically completed as the onscreen display of XP and the blueprint can show up easily being missed. Ryder can check the Completed Missions section at any time to see if this mission has already been completed.
